Amma's sous chef in the kitchen

Yesterday evening, Tarun was in a mood to help me in the kitchen while I was preparing dinner. He wanted to make dosas (yes, he has gone after me when it comes to eating idli and dosas). He took out the tava and emptied all the vessels inside the drawer, made himself comfortable inside and then wanted the batter that was in the fridge. When I refused to give him that, this is what he did :)

check out what he's using as the gas knob.

Hoping he will get trained earlier than his dad when it comes to cooking ;-)

My big spoon

Since all the spoons in our home are too small for Tarun, he came up with an innovative way of eating. Want to see how?

Yup, that's the vessel I use for tadka :) Needless to say, it took him a long time to finish his veggies and thank god he didn't remember that the next day morning!

P.S: Notice where he's sitting? Off late, he refuses to sit on the high chair seat and demands to sit on the tray with his food on the island.

Tarun's date with the snowman and the Easter bunny!

Last weekend was a lot of fun for all of us. Saturday began with an egg hunt at Campbell Community center. We had got Tarun an egg basket and starting Friday evening he kept asking us as to where the eggs where. It was a super packed egg hunt but thankfully they had carved out separate areas for different age groups. A friend of mine who was there with her 4 year old said there were about 1000 eggs in her son's area and were picked up in less than 5 secs. They also had face painting, jump houses etc. We had a long wait to get into the field, but once we did, Tarun was off on a mission. He found 3 eggs and since the organizers were running short of eggs also returned one egg back :) He also made sure to have all the candies inside his egg. From there, we were off to the Campbell Downtown where they had the 14th Annual Bunnies and Bonnets Parade which was fun too.

After lunch, we headed of to Lake Tahoe to have some fun in the snow. And what fun that was! Tarun was all excited about meeting the 'Snowman' and kept inquiring about the snowman throughout the drive. Once we reached Tahoe, he had only one song in his lips --- ' Jingle bells jingle bells'. It was amazing how he related the snow with this song. We had a beautiful lake view room and Tarun and I were off early in the morning for a stone throwing competition. He also managed to take a partial dip in the ice cold water despite us watching over him :) After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we left for the Echo summit where Tarun met his snowman. We rented a sled there and since this was Tarun's 1st time on the snow decided to sled on the smaller slope. This made him very angry since he wanted to go on the big slopes :) Mahesh took Tarun to the big slopes and went on the sled. Tarun had a blast! He just couldn't stop laughing. Check out this video to see what I mean.

Mahesh was a disaster on the snow. Could never come down smoothly on the slopes. Explains why he doesn't want to go back to the snowy east coast. I was a lucky 1st timer on the slopes. We also let Tarun sled alone on a small hill and he was very happy to do that too. We spent a few hours there and were exhausted at the end of it. After a delicious Thai lunch we decided to head back. Tarun was so exhausted that he slept through the drive. After coming home, he insisted on watching the sledding videos again and again and this morning he picked up a half filled laundry bag and was trying to slide down the bag:)

Note to myself: Take Tarun to the snow more often in the coming years!
